Tervuren New Administrative Centre

Year: 2015

Location: Tervuren, Belgium

Country: Belgium

Owner Builder: Tervuren Municipality

Contractor: Democo, Group Verbruggen / Jos Meeussen & Son

Designer: Jaspers-Eyers

Problem / Solution

This project situated in the city of Tervuren was part of an ambitious renovation aimed at constructing a new administrative office, a modern leisure centre, and a subterranean parking for over 200 cars.

Experience

Expanded clay was used as a drainage layer beneath the substrate and was used due to its ability to retain water in the garden.

Why expanded clay?

The blowing of the granulates made it possible to place the expanded clay rapidly despite the space constraints.
